What is CEN/TS 1555‑7- Guidance for the assessment of conformity in plastics piping systems about?

CEN/TS 1555‑ is a technical standard that discusses plastic piping systems for the supply of gaseous fuels.

CEN/TS 1555‑7 is the seventh part of the multi-part series that provides general information on the concept of testing and the organization of those tests used for the assessment of conformity.

CEN/TS 1555‑7 gives guidance for the assessment of conformity of compounds, products, joints, and assemblies by the applicable part(s) of EN 1555 intended to be included in the manufacturer’s quality plan as part of the quality management system and for the establishment of certification procedures.

In conjunction with Parts 1 to 5 of EN 1555, CEN/TS 1555‑7 applies to PE plastics piping systems for the supply of gaseous fuels. CEN/TS 1555‑7 also applies to PE pipes, fittings, and valves, their joints and joints with components of other materials intended to be used under the following conditions:

  • A maximum operating pressure, MOP, up to and including 10 bar1
  • An operating temperature of 20 °C is the reference temperature.

Note 1: For mechanical fittings conforming to ISO 17885, guidance for the assessment of conformity is not given in CEN/TS 1555‑7. When requested, a quality plan based on the tests mentioned should be set up in agreement between the user and manufacturer.

Note 2: It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.

Who is CEN/TS 1555‑7- Guidance for the assessment of conformity in plastics piping systems?

CEN/TS 1555‑7 on  the guidance for the assessment of conformity in plastics piping systems is useful for:

  • Plastic piping system manufacturers
  • Design engineers

Why should you use CEN/TS 1555‑7- Guidance for the assessment of conformity in plastics piping systems

Plastics piping systems are used for various purposes. Sewers, drainage systems, industrial gases, firemen’s water systems, etc. all use plastic piping for hot and cold water supply gaseous fuels. Assessing the conformity of the pipes is crucial to prevent damage to the pipe and leakage.

CEN/TS 1555‑7 assist you in the testing and inspection of plastic piping systems for any damage or default to manufacture a plastic piping system that is highly durable, efficient and of high quality.

CEN/TS 1555‑7 also assist you in preparing a technical file for certification purposes of the system.

With CEN/TS 1555‑7, you can efficiently evaluate plastic piping systems to ensure that they are of a high standard and produce maximum results.
