What is ISO 218722 about?

ISO 218722 is the second part of a series of documents on the microbiology of the food chain. ISO 218722 specifies a method for the direct enumeration of potentially enteropathogenic V. parahaemolyticus (tdh and/or trh positive) and/or the enumeration of total V. parahaemolyticus in seafood.

ISO 218722 enables the enumeration of potentially enteropathogenic V. parahaemolyticus and/or of total V. parahaemolyticus.

Who is ISO 218722 for?

ISO 218722 on microbiology of the food chain is beneficial for

  • Microbiologist
  • Biotechnologists
  • Food technologists
  • Food safety and regulatory bodies

Why should you use ISO 218722?

Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a curved, rod-shaped, Gram-negative bacterium found in the sea and estuaries that, when ingested, causes gastrointestinal illness in humans.

ISO 218722 provides information on nucleic acid hybridization which helps users to identify potentially enteropathogenic V. parahaemolyticus in food products, the identification of which can prevent severe health effects in humans.

As a result, with ISO 218722 you can ensure the safety of end-consumers against health hazards arising from the consumption of contaminated food.
