Metallic materials - Vickers hardness test - Part 1: Test method
Executive summary
Vickers hardness test method for metallic materials.
Abstract
This part of ISO 6507 specifies the Vickers hardness test method, for the three different ranges of test force for metallic materials.
- For test force range F greater than or equal to 49,03, the hardness symbol is greater than or equal to HV 5 and the designation is Vickers hardness test.
- For test force range 1.961 less then or equal to F less than 49.03, the hardness symbol is HV 0.2 to less than HV 5 and the designation is Low-force Vickers hardness test.
- For test force range 0.098 07 less then or equal to F less than 1.961, the hardness symbol is HV 0.01 to less than HV 0.2 and the designation is Vickers microhardness test.
The Vickers hardness test is specified in this International Standard for lengths of indentation diagonals between 0.020 mm and 1.400 mm.
For automated measuring systems this standard should be applied accordingly.
