With the advent of smart cities, smart streets and smart spaces, streetlights are beginning to be used as multifunctional columns that can host a range of smart equipment and communications apparatus. PAS 190:2023 gives recommendations for assessing and categorizing current lighting and CCTV columns for multifunctional use.

  • Sensors and other IoT devices
  • Electric vehicle charging points
  • Public address systems
  • Powered digital signage

PAS 190:2023 covers both equipment to be fitted internally and external attachments.
