1   Scope

This document specifies general test criteria and requirements to measure the energy consumption for self-propelled industrial trucks (hereinafter referred to as trucks) during operation. For electric trucks, the efficiency of the battery and the battery charger is included.
ISO 23308‑2 , ISO 23308‑3, ISO 23308‑4 and ISO 23308‑6 contain additional, truck-specific requirements which build on those expressed in this document.
This document is applicable to the in-use phase of the product life cycle.
It applies to the following truck types as defined in ISO 5053‑1:
  1. — counterbalance lift truck;
  2. — articulated counterbalance lift truck;
  3. — reach truck (with retractable mast or fork arm carriage);
  4. — straddle truck;
  5. — pallet-stacking truck;
  6. — pallet truck;

  10. — centre-controlled order-picking truck;
  11. — towing tractor;
  12. — pushing tractor;
  13. — burden and personnel carrier;
  14. — lorry-mounted truck;
  15. — towing and stacking tractor;
  16. — side-loading truck (one side only);
  17. — variable-reach container handler;
  18. — counterbalance container handler;
  19. — lateral-stacking truck (both sides);
  20. — lateral-stacking truck (three sides);
  21. — multi-directional lift truck;
  22. — variable-reach truck;
  23. — platform truck;
  24. — double-stacker;
  25. — rough-terrain truck;
  26. — rough-terrain variable-reach truck;
  27. — slewing rough-terrain variable-reach truck;
  28. — stacking high-lift straddle carrier.
